About me
My actions speak the loudest. I have always said that it is more important to do than to talk about what I want to do, and to take action, to finish projects in my business, in my family and in my community.
I have been disappointed, cheated and manipulated too many times by the ones who talk and make promises.
If I were to describe myself in a few words, those would be: medic, husband, father, volunteer, founder of Rotary Plants NOW (Rotary Plantează ACUM), mentor, the 20th Governor of Rotary International D2241-Romania & Moldova, innovator and an avid dance. I am, actually, very passionate about everything I do.
I invest time, attention, emotion, thought, passion, presence in every step I take and I think that this is what defines me best. My life is a beautiful score of these notes that I dance to in tango steps with my family and friends.
I keep looking back at everything that I have done so far and I can say about me that, through everything I have accomplished, what describes me best is team spirit, the desire to innovate and to make positive changes, I love goodwill, I am tenacious, ambitious and I value simple things: friendship, integrity, honor, patriotism, kindness, altruism, work and good fellowship.
I am persistent in everything I do, sometimes I am told I am too much of a perfectionist. I do not know if it’s an accusation or a mere observation, but what I know for sure is that this is the standard for me. I love things done well: keep your word, defend your values, have integrity, take each step correctly.
I draw these ideas from the education I have received from my parents, but mostly from my medical practice. In medicine, things don’t just “work as they are”. You have to be very precise. And I think that we must be very precise in all aspects of our lives, regardless of what we are doing: 100% or not at all.
This is how I am in everything I do: as a medic, a father, a husband, a mentor, a dancer, a volunteer, and now, for the 2019-2020 term, as a Rotary International Governor of the 2241 District, Romania and Moldova.
The 4-Way Test
Ever since I became a Rotary member, for almost 18 years, I have followed a very simple set of questions that has simplified my philosophy about how life should be lived and that has given me a very clear direction.
I always ask myself about the things that I am thinking, saying or doing:
- Is it the TRUTH?
- Is it FAIR to all concerned?
- Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
- Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
This is the 4-Way Test all 1.2 million Rotary members use at an international level and I believe with all my heart that it is the most efficient way to develop healthy personal and professional relationships.
The 4-Way Test is the best practice for durable friendships, prosperous economic relationships, efficient governing and sustainable economic growth. In the end, all these things leads to a climate of social peace.
What do we want to accomplish?
First of all, we want to accomplish some sort of unity in ourselves, a connection to our soul. Secondly, we have to attain a connection to our peers.
How do we accomplish that?
Through the 4-Way Test.
How long will it take?
Not very long if we start “planting” NOW the seeds of truth, honesty, goodwill, friendship and common goal.
NOW
The Change begins at the top and goes down, involving every single one of us.
How?
Through ACTION
Projects based on Rotary’s areas of interest (education, health, environment, social peace, economic development).
Through CONSCIENCE
Developing a healthy system of perennial values and the cult of work.
Through UNITY
Altruism, generosity, empathy and team spirit.
Through MENTALITY
Developing and promoting a winning spirit, altruism, patriotism, generosity, honesty and honor.
These are the values that govern my life and that can change an individual, a nation, a planet, in my opinion.
I am sure the change has happened in myself first, then in my family, among my friends, among people I know and in my professional relationships. I realized that if I want to move forward, to build and leave a legacy for the generations to come, then I must act now.
These are the values that make me believe that together we can create real change, the change in ourselves! Let’s start by remodelling ourselves as individuals, as a nation, by being part of the family of those who do good in the world.
